Doctor Nguyen Hong Ha, Vice President of the Infectious Diseases Association, said that with 38 cases of infection as of the evening of May 6, the Central Tropical Diseases Hospital can be considered an outbreak.
Mr. Ha said there are many reasons why the virus spreads in hospitals.
`This is unavoidable. In the world, many heads of state are strictly protected but also contract Covid-19,` Mr. Ha said.
The Central Tropical Diseases Hospital has been the front line for Covid-19 treatment in the North since 2020. To date, the hospital has treated 605 Covid-19 patients, including many severe cases requiring intervention with the system.
During the three days of May 4-5-6, the Central Tropical Diseases Hospital recorded 38 nCoV positive cases, including 3 medical staff, the rest were patients and family members.
Mr. Tran Dac Phu, Senior Advisor to the Vietnam Public Health Event Emergency Response Center, also leans towards the hypothesis of cross-infection in the hospital.
According to Mr. Phu, in the hospital anti-infection process, it is easy for mistakes to occur, causing doctors and nurses to contract the virus from patients, infecting many others.
`Every day, the hospital has to receive and treat many Covid-19 patients, including quarantined patients whose tests have not yet detected the disease. Therefore, infection control is very difficult,`
There are many problems with infection control at hospitals such as: wearing protective clothing, disinfection, medical equipment, wearing masks, the process of receiving, examining and treating many Covid-19 patients,
In addition to the hypothesis of cross-infection, Mr. Phu also suspects that the source of Covid-19 spread in the hospital is that patients infected with nCoV from the community, when coming for examination and treatment, infect staff and patients here.
`The immediate solution is medical isolation, reviewing infection prevention procedures in hospitals, preventing Covid-19 from disinfection, controlling cross infection…`, Mr. Phu proposed.

Experts say that the Covid-19 battle is still long.
