According to the admission plan for grade 10 high school for the 2020-2021 school year approved by the Hanoi People’s Committee on February 18, it is expected that on June 1, candidates will take the Literature test and the Math test in the afternoon, each subject lasting 120 minutes.
Time to confirm admission to the school is from June 17 to June 19, submit admission documents at the school and high school for additional admission from June 23 to July 1.
Compared to last year (exam on June 2-3), this year students across the city have three weeks off to fight the Covid-19 epidemic, from February 3 to February 23 and may even take the rest of February as recommended.
Not adjusting the exam schedule can cause difficulties for students and secondary schools because of the rushed preparation time.
Hanoi candidates take the 10th grade entrance exam in 2019-2020.
Recruiting more than 66,000 students into public 10th grade
In the 2019-2020 school year, Hanoi is expected to have 107,240 students graduating from secondary school, an increase of 6,600 students compared to the previous year.
Vocational education centers – continuing education recruit about 8,000, vocational schools recruit 8,400 students.
Similar to 2019, this year candidates will take 4 independent tests, including: Math, Literature, Foreign Language and the fourth test is randomly selected from one of the subjects Physics, Chemistry, Biology, History.
Hanoi People’s Committee affirmed that the exam questions are mainly in the 9th grade curriculum, in which Math and Literature topics ensure four cognitive levels: awareness, understanding, low-level application, high-level application.
Admissions principles are as follows:
Admission score = (Math exam score + Literature exam score) x 2 + (Foreign language exam score + Fourth subject exam score) + Priority score.
In which test scores are calculated on a scale of 10 and only candidates with enough tests are considered, do not violate regulations to the point of canceling the test, and do not have a test with a score of 0.
Candidates register for the exam according to the enrollment area (22 districts divided into 12 areas), only Chu Van An and Son Tay schools are recruited throughout the city.
Each student can register to enroll in two public high schools in the same enrollment area, regardless of their wishes for specialized classes at Hanoi – Amsterdam High School for the Gifted, Nguyen Hue High School and Son Tay High School.
In addition, students can apply for admission to non-public high schools and continuing education through admission.
