On the afternoon of April 23, Ms. Le Thi Ai Nam, Vice Chairman of the People’s Committee of Bac Lieu province, said that over 350 artists will attend the first National Don Ca Tai Tu Festival taking place on April 24-29.
Along Ho Nam, Bac Lieu City, there are 21 amateur music spaces for 21 clubs with hundreds of participating artists.
During the Festival, in addition to interacting with tourists, artisans from each province and city also have the opportunity to interact and exchange with each other about professional art.
With the theme `Love for people, love for the Southern land`, this first Don Ca Tai Tu Festival includes a series of 21 events contributing to honoring the unique art form of the Southern region.
Cao Van Lau Theater and Bac Lieu Provincial Cultural and Arts Exhibition Center have the shape of 3 conical hats facing each other.
According to the leaders of Bac Lieu province, it is difficult for any amateur music artist to make a living with this profession.
Don Ca Tai Tu is a unique form of folk art, typical of the Southern river region, a unique combination of music, lyrics and performance, reflecting the quintessence of culture.
The 18.6 m high pliers at Hung Vuong square is the largest cultural symbol in Bac Lieu province.
More than 3 years ago, the Prime Minister directed the People’s Committee of Ho Chi Minh City, the Vietnam Institute of Music and 21 provinces and cities to inventory and compile a dossier of `Southern Vietnamese amateur music` to submit to UNESCO for consideration and recognition as a heritage.
At the end of 2013, UNESCO honored this art form of Vietnam on the list of representative intangible cultural heritage of humanity.
