Thanh Thanh Hien missed the title of People's Artist because of 'private life issues' 2
The list of artists submitted to the Prime Minister for consideration and awarding the title `People’s Artist` and `Artist of Merit` for the eighth time was announced by the State Council on August 21.
According to the Department of Emulation and Commendation, the cases of artists Nguyen Van Luong and Nguyen Le Van are due to not meeting the conditions for the percentage of yes votes (90% or more) of members of the State Council according to regulations.

Mr. Phung Huy Can – Director of the Emulation and Commendation Department of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism – said that an artist’s profile when reaching the State Council has gone through three levels: grassroots level, successful level.
According to Mr. Can, the complaint against Meritorious Artist Thanh Thanh Hien is related to the female artist’s private life.
Decree 89 on standards for awarding the title `People’s Artist` stipulates four criteria, of which the second criterion requires artists to have `good moral qualities, be exemplary in life, and devoted to their profession.`
