On September 28, 1918, Philadelphia city officials, USA allowed 200,000 people to participate in a fundraising parade for the Allies in World War I, despite warnings from health authorities about an invisible enemy.
Within just 72 hours after the parade, all hospital beds in Philadelphia were filled with patients infected with Spanish flu.

The Spanish flu pandemic took place from January 1918 to December 1920, involving the H1N1 influenza virus.
The virus causing the pandemic is believed to have originated from birds, pigs or both.
Meanwhile, political scientist Andrew Price-Smith cited Austrian archives showing that the flu began in Austria as early as 1917. In 2014, historian Mark Humphries argued that the mobilization of 96,000 workers
The special thing about the Spanish flu is that the victims who died were mainly young people, aged 20-40, instead of the elderly as in other epidemics.
When an infected person sneezes or coughs, more than half a million virus particles can spread to people nearby.
50,000 people died in Canada, 300,000 people died in Brazil, including President Rodrigues Alves.
In the US, 28% of the population was infected and 675,000 people died.
Among the victims of the 1918 flu pandemic were Austrian painter Egon Schiele, French poet Guillaume Apollinaire and New York real estate developer Frederick Trump, grandfather of current US President Donald Trump.

After the end of 1918, the number of cases suddenly decreased sharply.
Another theory is that the 1918 virus rapidly mutated into a less dangerous strain.
In September 2019, the World Health Organization (WHO) released a report saying that the world is not ready to face a similar pandemic.
`A rapidly spreading respiratory disease pandemic with a high mortality rate remains at risk, killing 50-80 million people and wiping out nearly 5% of the world economy,` the report said.
