Nearly 30 years before the storm hit, the Harrison family’s 6-bedroom house on Pitch Pine Crescent, Mississauga city witnessed the peaceful life of Bridget Harrison with her husband Bill and son Caleb.
In 2003, the family’s large house became somewhat emptier when Caleb (then 29 years old) got married and moved out with his wife, Melissa Merritt (22 years old), after three years of being together.
Not long after, the marriage between Caleb and Melissa began to show cracks.
The house the Harrison family has lived in for more than 30 years.
Bored after a broken marriage, Caleb turned to alcohol.
Over the next few weeks, Melissa, Caleb’s ex-wife, often reported to the police about intruders breaking into her home and being attacked in their backyard.
Not stopping yet, Melissa sent a petition to court asking for full custody of her two young sons.
The court’s verdict probably did not make Melissa feel satisfied.
On March 9, 2009, Caleb was finally convicted in the drunk driving case, sentenced to 18 months in prison.
More than a month after the court verdict, Bridget returned from work at around 9:00 p.m. on April 16, 2009.
The body of Bill, 64 years old, had several scratches around his neck, bruises on his head, and a fractured sternum.
Coincidentally, on the same day Bill died, Melissa dyed her two children’s hair, cut off contact with the Harrison family, and moved with her boyfriend to another place, despite violating the court’s order to divide custody of the children.
Coming home from school on April 21, 2010, my 8-year-old grandson suddenly saw his grandmother Bridget lying at the bottom of the stairs, just a few dozen centimeters from where Bill fell.

At first, Bridget looked like she had had an accident when she slipped and fell on the stairs.
Losing both his parents consecutively in one year, Caleb was in extreme pain but still tried to raise his two young children well.
On August 23, 2013, Caleb quit his job without notice.
Caleb’s death was quickly determined to be a murder and had many similarities with Bridget’s death.
Going through the trash at the home where Melissa lived with Chris, police found the sneakers that Chris had bought the night before Caleb was killed.
On January 28, 2014, Melissa Merritt (33 years old) and Chris Fattore (36 years old) were arrested and prosecuted in the deaths of mother and child Caleb and Bridget Harrison.
After being arrested, Chris admitted to killing the Harrison mother and son because he wanted his girlfriend to have custody of the children.
On the way to be escorted, Melissa and Chris were locked in the same cell by the authorities.
Computer data also shows that before the murder, Melissa and Chris repeatedly searched for suspicious questions such as `how long will it take for a strangled person to die`, `if grandparents are raising their grandchildren and suddenly pass away`.
In 2018, Melissa and Chris were both convicted of First Degree Murder in the death of Caleb Harrison.
Melissa Merritt and boyfriend Chris Fattore.
In the end, Melissa and Chris were sentenced to life in prison without parole for at least 25 years.
After the incident, the area police received a lot of criticism for allegedly being irresponsible while investigating the first two deaths of the Harrison family.
