Chief of Staff Marc Short is also the spokesman for US Vice President Mike Pence and often accompanies him on business trips.
Vice President Pence knew that Short was positive for nCoV before he left to speak in Tallahassee, Florida, several sources close to him said.
Bloomberg also reported that Marty Obst, senior political advisor to Vice President Pence, was also confirmed positive for nCoV.
It is unclear whether Short and Obst have shown symptoms of nCoV infection or not.
The US Vice President’s office said Pence was a close contact with Short, but he did not quarantine and continued his schedule as `essential personnel` according to guidance from the Centers for Control and Prevention.

Obst is not a government employee but regularly interacts with Pence and his subordinates at the White House.
Obst remained silent on Twitter after receiving a positive result for nCoV, even though he had previously actively posted criticism of Democratic candidate Joe Biden on this social network.
nCoV entered the White House in September, causing US President Donald Trump, his wife and youngest son to be infected with the virus in early October.
Former New Jersey governor Chris Christie, another Trump ally, was hospitalized with nCoV infection after helping the US President prepare for the first debate with Biden in September. After recovering, Christie announced
Trump rarely wore a mask before and after being infected with nCoV, and is said to discourage his assistants and people around him from doing this.
