After reading the article Western teachers explain why it is difficult for Vietnamese people to learn English by author Jesse Peterson, I would like to present some of my opinions about learning English.
It is not correct to say that it is difficult for Vietnamese people to learn English, but it must be said that some Vietnamese people have difficulty learning English, because in reality, many Vietnamese people speak English very standardly and fluently.
Nowadays, learning correct pronunciation is no longer really a difficult problem because we can download English pronunciation software or find it on the internet.
Many Vietnamese people pronounce English as well and fluently as native speakers.
First, English learners must learn the international phonetic notation (IPA), without needing to transcribe the word, just look at it and read the vocabulary of the lesson under the guidance of the teacher, next learn the principles
Then we learn English conversation lessons from easy to difficult.
The mistake Vietnamese people make when pronouncing is not pronouncing `wind` and the last syllable of the word so the listener doesn’t understand.
For example, a Vietnamese person meets an Australian person, and they practice their English as follows: “Goods morning?
`Good` with the wind sound `s` at the end means goods, `you` with the pronunciation `zoo` means zoo, `nice` with the last sound is a wind sound but pronounced `n` then that is the saying.
I knew how to learn English, worked as an interpreter for the US for many years, spoke English fluently, taught English communication to many students studying abroad or those who left the country very successfully.
